Accounting Manager Job Description: Non-Profit Medical Rehab Facility seeking a Full-Time Accounting Manager.

Under the leadership of the CFO, the Accounting Manager will manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll. Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. Accounting Manager will guide implementation of new financial initiatives and perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested. Accounting Manager will research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP.) Accounting Manager will analyze revenue cycle function and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and effectiveness of revenue cycle processes. Accounting Manager will participate in the review and negotiation of third-party payor contracts. Accounting Manager will coordinate the annual budget process. Accounting Manager will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising accounting staff. Accounting Manager will also monitor emerging technology to determine ways to improve efficiencies within the accounting department.

Develops accounting organizational strategies and objectives which are in line with organizational strategic plan and objectives. This will be accomplished by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and directions.
Maintains financial security by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls throughout the organization.
Work with CFO and other senior management executives to improve financial reporting and develop more efficient workflow processes.
Monitors data integrity and reports potential issues to the CFO in a timely manner. Includes confirming financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
Compiles and prepares various status reports for management in order to analyze trends and make recommendations.
Provides guidance to other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Ensures that all processes in the revenue cycle are in compliance with HIPAA and third-party payor regulations.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by understanding current and proposed legislation, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Maintains sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations.
Accomplishes departmental human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining direct-report staff.
Actively participates in staff development and assessments to support industry best practice.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
EDUCATION:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) – Preferred
Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
Systematic approach to problem-solving for all types of issues

Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles

Admissions Manager Job Description: Non-Profit Medical Rehab Facility seeking a Full-Time
Medical Admissions Manager.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Admissions Office Manager will manage day-to-day operations for the admitting department including completion of preliminary paperwork and scheduling of initial patient encounter (visit). The Manager will determine and implement admissions best-practices, develop and revise admission and discharge processes, and oversee admissions staff. Will monitor department staff performance of responsibilities and ensure it is of highest quality. Will have authority for personnel actions including recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of admissions staff.
Admissions is the first step in the Ability KC medical revenue cycle. As such, it requires the Admissions staff to properly gather and input accurate patient, insurance, and referral information into the EMR/RCM system. Inaccuracies in this information lead to denials which, in turn, increase the amount of time from claim filing to reimbursement. Manager will collaborate with the Patient Accounting Manager to ensure that all information required to prepare claims for submission to payors is accurate and aligned to the requirements of the payor. Manager will confer with Patient Accounting Manager to properly address denial issues, resolve the issues, and update processes as necessary to eliminate similar issues in the future. Communication and collaboration between the two managers are critical.
Manager will determine admissions targets and develop relationships within the community to drive admissions numbers. The manager will work with a cross-disciplinary team to develop and implement revenue-generating strategies related to admissions and patient capacity. Will work with marketing team to develop brochures, newsletters, advertisements, and other promotional material to increase facility’s brand awareness within the community. Will schedule and conduct tours of facilities.
Manager will manage admissions inquiries while monitoring admissions capacity and making sure it is effectively communicated to clinicians and other personnel. The manager will record and report data related to admissions, discharges, and admission inquiries to senior management.
Manager will stay apprised of federal and state regulations governing capacity, billing, and reimbursement, denials, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, as well as Commission on Accreditation of Rehab Facilities (CARF) standards. Manager will ensure that project/departmental milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets. In addition, will maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and seminars and reviewing professional publications as well as participating in professional societies.
EDUCATION:
EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare administration at the manager level required.

Experience in physical rehabilitation and/or OT/PT/SLP practice preferred.

Minimum of five years’ experience in healthcare admissions preferred.

Experience with commercial medical insurance benefit check and authorizations required.

Experience with the workers’ compensation system preferred.
